I'll try swallowing again in a day or so, may be only once or twice a day. Tomorrow, I'm going to rinse and spit, it's either that or I stop taking it completely. I can't keep doing that, the nausea and upset stomach are worse than the thrush symptoms! I'm eating yogurt every day and taking probiotics to help restore my gut flora. I asked the pharmacist today if I have to swallow every dose and he said yes. My stomach feels crampy and bloated, I'm nauseous and its horrible.
#Swish and swallow for thrush full#
I've tried taking it on an empty and full stomach, no difference. Day 3 I started to get really nauseous about 30-60 minutes after doing the swish and swallow. I was prescribed the Nystatin rinse after I developed a red, painful burning tongue with a white film on it. In fact, I think I had thrush before taking the antibiotics, given my symptoms. I had also been uding a nassl steroid spray and steroid inhaler. I was taking antibiotics for a sinus infection and developed oral thrush. Prep for colonoscopy was much better than this stuff Read More Read Less I recommend swish and gargle then spit it out The thrush has not gone away completely but greatly improve. At 14 days my kidneys kicked into overdrive and started to work properly again. I needed Hydralyte to get my fluids back in balance. My gums and tongue were inflamed and I developed ulcers under my tongue and in the back of my tongue. I be gan swallowing it again after seven days but had the same. I ventured on for a few more days and then stopped swallowing it as I was so incredibly ill and weak dehydration set in and I had horrible kidney pain. After two days I experienced severe diarrhea and vomiting. I was prescribed 5 mL three times a day and was advised to swallow it. I was prescribed the medicine to deal with thrush in my mouth which occurred because of my excessive use of Symbicort for asthma. I haven’t taken any more since and I don’t plan on ever doing so again.Īnd that concludes the night I was poisoned by Nystatin. It just says not to swallow too quickly, which indicates you CAN swallow. The instructions for this medication is very vague. The blood may have been a slight tear from my throat or stomach from puking so hard. So basically it won’t actually work on anything once it’s in your body? (Apart from your guts to make you horrendously ill). He told me you CAN swallow it but it only works when it’s in your mouth.

Was I not supposed to swallow? Had I poisoned myself? I told him - I put it on my tongue and held it in my mouth for as long as possible then swallowed. I contacted my doctor and he asked me how I took the medication. I felt shaky and like I was going to be sick again several hours later but thankfully this subsided after a few minutes. I continued to have a few more bouts of diarrhoea after but this was a minuscule amount compared to before. The thrush on my tongue was somehow even worse now. the poison had left my body! But ouch, my throat was so sore and gruff. With tears in my eyes and diarrhoea on my ass, I groaned. Immediately I felt instantly back to normal (although weak and knackered). Continuous waves of nausea, sweating and disorientation continued for another couple of minutes until I felt it coming out the other end instead so sat on the toilet then lurched over to the bath (thank god it’s right next to the toilet) and retched long and hard 3 times before finally vomiting 3 times… complete with blood. I found myself staggering to the toilet again but this time with my head down it. I’m not exaggerating at all when I say I actually thought I was dying at one point and was prepared to ring for an ambulance thinking I was about to lose consciousness.

I became d isoriented and felt as though I was going to collapse. The scariest thing was I started to not feel like ME. My stomach felt extremely uncomfortable, like it didn’t belong in my body and needed to escape. Explosive diarrhoea with profuse sweating, dizziness, palpitations and I was cold, clammy and weak. Oh the diarrhoea! Over the course of an hour and a half it became worse. Next came bloating, then the diarrhoea started. Just a few hours after my second dose, I had a sudden wave of nausea come over me and I just didn’t feel right at all.
